Craig Murray
31 May 1998 (New Zealand)
Freeride skiing
Date of birth: 31 May 1998
Place of residence: Innsbruck
Craig grew up in Aotearoa, New Zealand in a family of adventurers.
Both of his parents were professional adventurers who competed in races.
This childhood in the wilderness and sometimes in harsh weather created a strong and indestructible bond between Craig and nature.
With his motivation and commitment, Craig moves forward and seems to check off his goals one by one. And it's only if you spend time with Craig that you'll realize how much he's been able to accomplish at only 24 years old.
His simple, shy personality may seem intriguing at first, but when you see Craig on skis speeding downhill or slamming tricks on big rock bars, you realize that Craig is an incredible character.
Craig started competing before he was 20 and didn't wait long to shine.
As the overall winner of the NZ Tour, Craig earned his spot on the Junior Freeride World Tour and made the trip to Europe to compete in the Tour, even making the podium twice (2nd in Fieberbrunn and 1st in Chamonix)
WINNING THE JUNIOR FREERIDE WORLD TOUR TITLE
For the 2016/17 season, Craig started on the Qualifier tour and won two of the biggest events of the year.
THIS EXCEPTIONAL SEASON SENT CRAIG DIRECTLY TO THE PRESTIGIOUS FREERIDE WORLD TOUR, MAKING HIM THE YOUNGEST PERSON TO QUALIFY FOR THE TOUR AT THE AGE OF 18.
In his first season on the Tour, Craig took 2 second place finishes, including a huge 360 on the legendary Bec des Rosses in Verbier.
In 2019, for his second season, CRAIG WON THE CANADIAN STAGE WITH A SPECTACULAR RUN, IMPRESSING EVERYONE IN ATTENDANCE.
"Craig is one of the most humble and qualified people I have ever met in the sport.
For sure, he is one of the athletes to watch with a very bright future."
