Matěj Svancer was born in Prague in the Czech Republic but he and his family spent a lot of time in Austria until he finally moved to Kaprun during his childhood where he could enjoy winter and summer activities.

At the age of 10, Matěj was enrolled at the sports school Gymnasium Saalfelden and started to ski competitively. But what really interests him is freestyle skiing. In his first year, he achieved good results and placed in the Top 10 of the European Cup circuit, which earned him a place on the Austrian National Freeskiing Team.

In 2019, Matěj finished first at the World Rookie Fest in Livorno, Italy and in 2020, at 15 years old, he climbed to the top step of the Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland.
One year later, he was crowned World Junior Slopestyle Champion in Krasnoyarsk, Russia.
In 2022, for his first full season on the World Cup circuit, he won 2 stages and qualified for the Beijing Olympics, confirming his great potential to become one of the best riders.
